VFW Post 8241 is accepting entries for Voice of Democracy, Patriot’s Pen, and Teacher of the Year!

•       Grades 9–12: Voice of Democracy audio essay competition.

     o  Student theme: "What a Veteran Taught Me About America.”

•       Students in grades 9–12 submit a typed essay and a 3–5 minute MP3 recording in their own voice.
Grades 6–8: Patriot’s Pen written essay competition.

     o  Student theme: "What a Veteran Taught Me About America.”

•       Students in grades 6–8 submit a typed essay of 300–400 words. No recording is required. 

•       K – 12 educators: Teacher of the Year nominations.

    o  The Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award recognizes    current certified/licensed K–12 educators who promote citizenship, civic responsibility, and patriotism. There are separate elementary, middle, and high school categories.
